Daedon works fine. It requires a lot of meat though. Like a couple of slot caps worth to heal many dinos. I just use snow owls myself, works great. In the lava Biome I would do the Brute Allosaur Hunt and Brute Magmasaur Hunt on Gamma each. That gave enough levels for me to get my Rexes to 30K health and 2000% melee.
