Every weapon is viable. It's a matter of you being a viable user. Uchi is good but I'd recommend blacksteel Katana. It has a more versatile moveset, solid combos and better damage. Yes, as are most all katanas. Chaos Blade is just the infamous one, but katanas in general are hated because of how good they are.

The BSS 2h heavy attack is a bit more useful than the uchi's. Without landing bleed, the damage in general is pitiful. Having a lot of low damage hits is fine, if you can get them in.
