Shale environment

Shale usually contains other clay-size mineral particles such as quartz, chert, and feldspar. Other constituents might include organic particles, carbonate minerals, iron oxide minerals, sulfide minerals, and heavy mineral grains and the presence of such minerals in shale is determined by the environment under which the shale constituents were.

According to our research on the typical organic shale beds in China, we find that the combination of image analysis methods and fluid invasion methods are the most commonly used, which meet both the demands of direct observation and quantitative analysis. Specifically, SEM and N2 adsorption are the most frequently applied methods.Jun 19, 2014 · Shale Gas and Other Unconventional Sources of Natural Gas. Despite decades of extraction and use, the estimated size of the US natural gas resource has steadily risen since the 1990s, largely buoyed by the increased feasibility of extracting gas from unconventional deposits. Unconventional natural gas, which includes shale gas, tight gas, coal ...
