Everything (other than weight, which is a meaningless amount of difference for an EDC) about the G10 handle, MagnaCut blade Deka should be better than the Bugout, so I have carried the Deka and left the Bugout on my bino harness.Thanks for the responses. My lack of knowledge and relatively brief amount of research always led me to believe S30V is one of the best all around blade steels. I like the sounds of this magnacut steel though. Clearly the best steel is subjective and dependant on its utility.

Vanax gives up a little toughness vs. magnacut, but is slightly better in edge retention and corrosion resistance. I would go with Vanax if you're using it in and around water constantly. In all other cases I'd go with Magnacut.

MagnaCut will have better edge retention than White/Blue/Super. Those steels are low-alloy and rely on high hardness for wear resistance. MagnaCut has vanadium and niobium plus it can get pretty hard as well. MagnaCut is so far ahead of White/Blue/Super in this regard.
