No overdrive 4l60e
4l60e transmission problems. I have a 1994 GMC k1500 4x4 pickup w/4l60e transmission in it. Five years ago it started shifting hard from 1st to 2nd. Starting a few months ago the overdrive would all of a sudden stop working going down the road but would start working again a few miles down the road. All of a sudden 2nd and 4th stopped working ...Most of the issues with a 4L60E 2-3 shift solenoid are because the coil wire goes bad. The coil wire can go bad in a couple of ways and additionally, the plunger could also get stuck. You can test shift solenoids using an OHM meter. If the solenoids have a resistance between 20 - 30 ohms, they are good.

So my 93 1 ton with a 4l80e will not go into forth or overdrive. When I bought it a week ago it would go into both when the trans got to 175 then it would go out. All I had to do is flick the key and get it back. Once it got to 180 it would not come back.
The 4L60/65/70E isn't a bad choice - it doesn't require cutting up the trans tunnel and has been used in plenty of stuff, from C5 Corvettes to Silverados. I also have a fix that will bypass the tps and allow your truck to go into od until repairs can be made.

Intermittent drive and overdrive in 4L60E. I had a tranny rebuild done a year ago, and rear end build 2 months ago. Everything was working fine and had been for 6 weeks. Even a couple of fun runs down and 1/8 mile drag strip. Everything worked fine even after that. All of a sudden, i lost drive and overdrive. First thing i did was checked fluid.No TCC Lockup - 4L60e. This trans is in a LS2 powered Blazer running a 2007 TrailBlazer SS E67 ECM. I have tried everything I can think of and read about to make this thing lock but, it won't! I can force lockup using a scanner - so the TCC is working.
