Cummins isx normal oil pressure at idle
I am haveing a problem with my 98 12 valve cummins.When I stop at a red light my truck rpm drops to approx.560 rpm. the truck shakes the check guages light comes on and the oil pressure drops to 0. I have been scratching my head working on an ISX. About every 2500miles the oil pressure goes down to about 20psi. Replace the oil filter and pressure pops back up. I have seen this before, but it's usually caused by extended oil drain interval, or something mechanically wrong.So I had my local dealer replace the oil pressure sensor but they put in an aftermarket one because the stock one was about a 5 day wait. Now it is very consistent with the oil pressure, however when idling it is lower down by the lower safe level as pictured below and then when i get above 1200 rpms or so it will show normal pressure above 40.

I also scroll through my vehicle info on the VIC and it also shows 0PSI. The truck only has 49K miles on it. Last oil change was about 3k miles ...If it's not air, check fuel pressure. There's a test port on the bottom side of the IFSM. If it's unsteady, it's likely a spinning drive gear on the mechanical fuel pump. You can easily pop that pump off to inspect the gear.
