May 4, 2009 · The Glock 30 slide is 1.125'' thick (same as the 38 45 GAP) The Springfield XD 45 compact is 1.1'' thick and tapers to .95. The 45 XD compact is very close to being the same overall size as the Glock 38 in 45 GAP. The Glock 30 is about 1/4'' less in overall height, but the grip is thicker. The Glock 21 to me felt bulky and uncomfortable. The XD felt like it was more slim and had a much more comfortable grip. I ended up buying a XD 45 Tactical 5". Looking forward to taking it to the range this next week. Also hoping for a Safariland holster for the XD with TLR-1 attached in the near future.The glock trigger felt better, especially trying to put multiple shots on target. I felt i could do that faster vs the springfield. These were the main differences that came to me right off the back after putting a bunch of mags through them, otherwise they are both great pistols.
