Just revisited this and wanted to add that i resolved my issue by using a q-tip to manually "kick start" the fan. Aka using the q-tip to flick the fan and get it started. The smoker had been running for about 15-20 minutes, and I had just put the burgers on. The cooking chamber is sturdy. The hood is fairly stout. The “thermometer” in the hood is worthless.
