He was a football star for the University of Kansas in his hometown of Lawrence before turning pro in the early 1960s. Hadl had a successful KU career playing quarterback, running back and punter. He then turned pro, as quarterback for the San Diego Chargers, Los Angeles Rams, Green Bay Packers and Houston Oilers.
