Most wood dye products are compatible with water based sealers. I used a product called Transtint. It’s one of my favorite dye products. I’ve used a Keda Wood Dye product in the past but the Transtint is still my favorite. For this project, I mixed about 15 drops of wood dye in with about one cup of polyurethane.The Mixol dyes also available from Woodcraft.com are more vibrant in color when applied diluted with lacquer thinner.
