Open ship menu, go to "Crew". Remove crew from affected ship. Go to ship builder, modify ship. Repaint any component. Save ship. Exit ship builder, see ship magically on the platform again. I scammed the reload until I got a Claymore. Took it over, and almost immediately got a new (to me) bug where after landing somewhere I can't exit the ship or take off. Yeah you need piloting at max to get top level ships to spawn. Anywho, It seemed all my ships were bugged. I fixed it by fast travelling into a different system and landing. Was ok after that. #2. The solution was to go to the ship editor and just remove a component. I guess this 'refreshes' the ship or something. Don't know what happened and can't replicate the bug so idfk but there's a possible solution for you if you're having ship problems,. 1. Reply.
