The GRFD is a 2-year scholarships available for members of the Army Reserve (AR) who desire to commission in the Reserve Forces. Applicants must be members of the AR and participate in the Simultaneous Membership Program (SMP) as a cadet. Scholarships are awarded on a competitive basis.

You are not in the Simultaneous Membership Program until you have contracted with an ROTC program. The only way you can be in the SMP is if you do Army ROTC.
