Sep 6, 2018 · I'm in the market for a snow blower again. I had a '79 Ariens that the motor blew on. I rebuilt it, then moved to another place and gave it to my son-in-law and bought a John Deere and a blower attachment for that. We've now down-sized and I need another walk behind. It's got a carb not FI. It's a fantastic machine. It will blow the snow back where it came from or across the street if you want to. 60' easy with normal snow. But, I think the motor is a little under powered for the size of the bucket.

The auger wouldn't spin so I replaced auger belt and drive belt they were both chewed up pretty bad. Now the drive and auger both work however the drive belt keeps slipping off. No, do not replace the foam it will restrict airflow, the engine is designed to run without any form of air filter in the winter months. The problem is, it’s slow. At forward speed 6, it’s about a third slower than my old Ariens 5hp (walking/drive speed). In deep snow its fine, but anything less ... One is dated 1993, which makes sense. The service manual is dated year 2000, but that covers a wide range of models, which went up to year 2000, and they Ariens has the "last" version of that manual on their site. The tire size is 410-4 (4.10-3.50 x 4) on this unit. I obviously need to re-inflate the new tires to some kind of pressure. The max PSI on the tires says 24 PSI.10. 245.
